Hey! I’m Lucy, the founder of Sea Coins, we create vibrant ocean hats designed for surfing, diving, boating, and living life in the outdoors.
The idea for Sea Coins kicked off in early 2023. Initially, I launched a jewellery line featuring handcrafted wax-cast rings. While I loved the creative process, I felt my products weren’t unique enough, and the brand was not a true reflection of myself. After a year of crafting jewellery, I decided to hit pause and think about what I wanted my brand to represent.
At the start of 2024, I moved to Gili Trawangan in Lombok, Indonesia, to complete my scuba divemaster program. With hours spent in the sun, I invested in my first ‘surf’ hat for sun protection. As I spent more time diving, I realised how useful that hat was, but I often thought about ways to improve it for it to be suitable for ALL water sports. All hats like the one I had bought was designed and advertised for surfing, while the surfing industry is a massive market, why limit a product to just that when it could cater to all ocean lovers?
This led to a month of brainstorming, where I identified essential features from different hats. After combining these ideas, we developed a prototype that is functional, comfortable, sustainable, and colourful.
Now, six months later, we’re thrilled to introduce two new ocean hat designs—the perfect accessory designed for endless fun. Whether you're riding waves, exploring coral reefs, or simply relaxing by the beach, our hats are designed to keep you protected and looking great.
